IP3 receptors
نویسنده
چکیده
What are they? Members of a family of intracellular ligand-gated ion channels that allow Ca2+ release from intracellular stores. The endoplasmic reticulum (ER), or specialised regions of it, contains ATP-driven Ca2+ pumps which generate a high Ca2+ concentration in the ER lumen. When inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) binds to IP3 receptors, the channel region of the receptor opens, allowing Ca2+ to flood out into the cytosol.

Cyclic AMP directs inositol (1,4,5)-trisphosphate- evoked Ca signalling to different intracellular Ca stores
Cholesterol depletion reversibly abolishes carbachol-evoked Ca release from inositol (1,4,5)-trisphosphate (IP3)-sensitive stores, without affecting the distribution of IP3 receptors (IP3R) or endoplasmic reticulum, IP3 formation or responses to photolysis of caged IP3. Receptors that stimulate cAMP formation do not alone evoke Ca 2+ signals, but they potentiate those evoked by carbachol. We sh...
متن کاملIP(3) receptors, stress and apoptosis.
Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) receptors are intracellular calcium channels that are able to release calcium from intracellular stores upon activation by IP3 and modulation by calcium. IP3 receptors are involved in variety of processes during physiological, but also in the pathophysiological states. Unraveling their regulation and function, especially under the pathological situations can r...

متن کاملD2-dopamine receptor-mediated stimulation of inositol trisphosphate formation in chick retina.
INTRODUCTION AND METHODS. Inositol-l,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) is an important second messenger which mobilizes intracellular calcium stores (1). It has been demonstrated that in various tissues, including the retina, stimulation of several receptor types activates hydrolysis of membrane phospholipids with concomitant formation of IP3 (1-3). Data on effects of dopamine (DA) on IP3 production are ...
متن کاملInhibition of nuclear vesicle fusion by antibodies that block activation of inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate receptors.
Inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) receptors are ligand-gated channels that release intracellular Ca2+ stores in response to the second messenger, IP3. We investigated the potential role of IP3 receptors during nuclear envelope assembly in vitro, using Xenopus egg extracts. Previous work suggested that Ca2+ mobilization is required for nuclear vesicle fusion and implicated IP3 receptor activity...
متن کاملNAADP mobilizes Ca2+ from a thapsigargin-sensitive store in the nuclear envelope by activating ryanodine receptors
Ca2+ release from the envelope of isolated pancreatic acinar nuclei could be activated by nicotinic acid adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NAADP) as well as by inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3) and cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR). Each of these agents reduced the Ca2+ concentration inside the nuclear envelope, and this was associated with a transient rise in the nucleoplasmic Ca2+ concentration. NAADP...
